About

INFOSEC Manchester

With a focus in North West of England, namely Manchester, the INFOSEC Manchester events are vendor-neutral and feature panel discussions by industry experts who address a wide spectrum of real-world challenges and current strategies in Cybersecurity today.

The events will be supported by industry leaders, commercial organisations, professional associations, technology vendors and Information Technology professionals from around the world.

In the past we have had speakers from the FBI, Universities, industry-leading organisations and our sponsors. This year we are looking to continue our strong speaker standards to provide our attendees with valuable information and insights into all things Infosec.

Infosec Manchester is proud to be supporting the Wood Street Mission, with a collection on the night, which has gone down exceedingly well in previous events, we have raised hundreds of pounds for the wonderful work the Wood Street Mission are doing, and we hope to continue this at our next event.

Event Title:

Securing the Supply Chain – Lessons, Pitfalls, and the AI Wild West

Abstract:

Third-party security has become one of the biggest blind spots in modern businesses. From cloud providers and SaaS tools to AI-powered services, the supply chain now represents a significant portion of an organisation’s risk surface. But how do you balance enabling business growth with ensuring suppliers don’t become your weakest link?

This session will explore third-party security assurance from the end-user (company) perspective, covering:

  • Protecting your data from misuse – including how to prevent third parties from training AI models on your sensitive information.
  • Supplier security in practice – lessons learned, practical tips, and common pitfalls from real-world assurance programmes.
  • Cloud gotchas – where businesses often stumble when relying on external cloud services.
  • The rise of AI security concerns – what you should be aware of when your suppliers use or embed AI in their offerings.

Attendees will walk away with pragmatic insights and actionable advice to strengthen their third-party assurance strategy and avoid becoming the next cautionary tale.
